Joining the bandwagon, my 4L OHV build

Yep i run mine untrimed.take all that stuff off it and make the top flush and what hangs off the bottom can be trimmed, but needs to be capped off by something.im just going to cut it flush then take a piece of plastic on the bottom of rad and outline the bottom of the fan.cut the plastic to the outline and apoxy it to the fan.mine cool fine without doing any off that but on the beach in 4x4 i might want alittle more suckn power

Also my trans coolers are separate so i dont have trans fluid heating up my engine water,so you might need that extra flow

yea i WILL trim it, but if i dont have to i wont for now. itll give me another project down the road. i plan on snagging a mini fan from a junkyard for the tranny cooler. ive thought about adding an oil cooler&fan also. but thats for later.

so you only have 3 tranny coolers then? stock w/fan added, 2nd stock, ac cooler and doesnt go through the coolant cooler? didnt you say you have an oil one to? i never even saw that one lol

I have three,ac turned into a cooler,an large aftermarket one with a fan and the stock little one.my oil cooler is mounted to the back side of the stock little trans cooler, witch is the last cooler before going back to trans,so the coldest one

all that cooling for a busted al4d that shifts manualy without a clutch lol

why do you have to do that? didnt you tell me in a post that since my D(OD one) went on me, the next thing to go is 2-3? is that what happened to yours?

My trans is fully built with a stage three shift kit.the vacuum module need to be adjusted.it shift fine just at full throttle my engine is so ported and with the 422 cam it make very little to no vacuum so the trans doesnt know when to shift at full throttle.the is nothing wrong with the trans its built that way.all the coolers are to make up for running a manual radiator. I wanted to keep my fluids separate and the cooler you keep that trans the better!!

The only reason i had to shift manual that one day is because i was smoken tires all the way through first and bouncing off the rev limter!!i didnt have it in first when i first took off,i had it in D and when i started hitting rev limiter i shift from D to 1st then to 2nd to help stop spinning tires!!

My guys shop will build you a stock one for around $700. I would put stage 3 clutches and bands in though,im just running a heavy duty version of stock for now, when my bands go ill go to stage three!

$700 includes everything,if you bought your own kit idk how much he would charge.5 speed would be nice but remember that's $250 for it and it still would need a rebuild or at least a clutch and throwout and some little stuff,i would go 5 speed but they are not the easiest to wheel or drive in our traffic

nope i think there going around $250 ish.it only took him two days to do mine tho!

You get your crank in and all parts? 1 more day!! Hahah

yes! just never posted that it came. only thing im missing is that tranny bolt. i only have $11 and my bank is -$62 lol. so i cant buy any fluids/parts until tuesday. but i do have a $25 valve spring compressor and $50 exhaust pipe cutter to return luckily.
so ill be able to get a couple things and your lunch atleast.

so in your tools monday, bring something to measure how much torque for the bolts, i dont have one. make sure all your impact batteries are charged and bring the charger :P
and the lifters!

no luck with the y-pipe today. ive run out of sawzal metal blades, bent them all. and the autozone exhaust cutter is worthless on these. i dont have anything else i can use :(

not really related to the build, but i did three other things today.
1 - gonna get better sleep. got a new bed :)
2 - shoved my hellas behind the grille for a cleaner look. used the brackets from the e-fan to hold them on
3 - 2nd gen overhead console. no wiring yet and its a tad to much to the left. i can fix that later.

i cut the nut on one but i still cant yank if off. if we cant figure out anything do you think i could drive 1mile down the road with just headers and have big als cut it off? then assemble everything correctly when i get home?

a little late notice to be changing plans. if you think youre gonna wake up early then sure. with the time change theres an extra hour of light now too
