Scott B's 93 Ranger XLT V8

New Parts

After the incident in the desert earlier this year, I decided to add some coil retainers to my front springs. Seeing that I have not been able to find any in a junkyard around here, I ordered a set from Ford.

Say hello to your dad for me when next you speak to him. stay safe. M ( keep the updates comming:thumbsup:)

Michael,

I am looking forward to having some power when climbing hills, and a transmission that doesn't get too hot!

8 months to Moab!

Scott,
You know you can make your own :) I couldn't find them in the junk yard either.

I know - this was easier!:D

I am anxious to convert my front shocks like you did. Guess that will have to wait until after the new engine...

I've been doing some work on the body of the truck.

Flares removed, filled, and sprayed with Line-X.
Wheelwells re-undercoated.

You can't really tell from the pictures, but I have been buffing the truck (dents and all.) Clay bar, 2 passes of Meguire's #9 on a buffer, and #26 wax. It is making a significant difference in the finish.

I also bought a set of tires - 32" BFG AT KO, same as I had. I have mounted the spare (still trying to sell the KM2) - I will mount the others before winter.

Photos:

Flares before (filled and sanded)
Flares after Line-X
Push-pins from Ford to mount flares (originals broke when removing flares)
Installed (shown with new tire)

Some more shots of the newly coated flares with the new spare tire.

Also, a shot of things to come...

.....I know why the hood is up but, why is there a jack under the axle and jack stands under the bumper?

The jackstands are under the receiver hitch - holding the truck in the air.

The jack(s) are under the axle to lift it high enough to get the tire on. See, the flipped spring shackles give me looooooottts of downward travel. :D

Make over of your '93

Scott, Your truck is looking better and better with every new post!!! Michael

Thanks - wait 'til you see in Moab! You might not recognize it!

New Look!

Here it is - buffed, waxed, Line-X flares, new emblems, new spare tire. Pretty shiny for an 18 year old truck!

Looks really great. Have you ever had any problems with the Rancho Radius arms? The reason I ask is a few years ago Rangerx had one snap on him while we were out wheeling. It broke right where the plates from the front end at the tube.

No, never had a problem with the arms. However, I bent one of the arm mounts (several other people I know did, too.) I reinforced mine with a piece of 1/4" steel wrapped around it and welded. Hasn't bent since!

..Hmm.....I think it needs some 33's..:D

Not sure I'm ready for the "tall and skinnies" (33 x 10.50)...

I like my 32's (like you and Brian.)
