Joining the bandwagon, my 4L OHV build

Yup!

It looks like the rubber fitting that connects the vacuum line is on the FPR.. but no vacuum line is in the back of it.. no where to be found? :dunno:

That's a damn good reason for you to be getting 11-12mpg, Not too long ago my truck was doing it to me, no real symptoms of a bad FPR, but Rangr7ltr helped me figure it out and I went from 12mpg to 20 in about 10 minutes.. lol

Bling Bling Mutha*****

lol.. Take one of them out and actually check out the level of detail that went into manufacturing those (i.e. the 'flow' swirls in the metal and how light they are compared to stock) it's what I did for like 20 mins.

And no, I wasn't high.. I just thought they were cool! :shifty_ey

And no, I wasn't high..
lies! :P

ill be looking at them. i got busy after posting. ups freight came. i cant compare them to stock as i havent figured out how to take the old ones out lol

how do i get the old ones out? the circle clips on top of the springs come off how? and what gaskets(if any) am i to use to put them in?
ps. have you forgot about the clips on the rocker assemblies for me?

ps. have you forgot about the clips on the rocker assemblies for me?

Oh crap. yes.

I'm on my way to the post office now. Sorry, it's been Work, School, Explorer's Oil Leak, Sleep. for the past week for me :(

But in order to get them off, some people can do it with a screwdriver.. I can't. Basically you get a spring compressor tool, it hooks around the top of the spring and you push the spring down and pull the clip off the top of the valve then it all falls apart. If you haven't already, your DEFINITELY going to want new valve guides.. mine were TOAST, literally.. they looked like burnt toast.. it was gross.

Yea you need a spring compressor.you have new guides in the heads.in your kit you will have valve seals look like little nipples

Valve seals** that's what I meant. Here's a picture of my old and busted seal..

EDIT -- this is actually the best looking one out of the bunch.. all lopsided and burnt up.. hahah

The clips are on their way.. I can't imagine them taking more than a day or so as you only live an hour and a half away.. I didn't bother with a tracking number as it doubled the $1.50 shipping cost.. :p:

thanks you! being post office it has a possibility of taking a month. no lie, i deal with that crap lol

well i accomplished nothing. returned fan tools, vise grips and strap didnt work. so no fan of water pump being taken off. gonna try another stores tools tomorrow. screwdriver trick for springs didnt work, just may loose my fingernail from the manifold spinning and pinching my finger between it and the head :/

i did manage to paint the fuel rail and coil pack bracket flat black though

You need a spring compressor!! Those things are under 100s of pounds of pressure and if you dick the locks or retainers up they wont allow the valve to spin!!

No just compres the spring may have to hold the valve closed to get the seat to go down.

Then pull the locks out and slowly decompress it

No if you compress the spring and hold it in place the valve will move up and down,in and out the retainer.the locks are at the top in the middle of the retainer.the valve and locks will move up out the retainer, pull the locks off and the valve will drop out.may have to hold down the compresser and spring on the head and tap the valve shut from the bottom will holding the spring in place

i figured it out. youtube ftw! i stuck a socket under the valve to hold it shut and *gently* tapped the hammer on the tool to knock it down. those lock are difficult to pick out of there!
should i be adding assembly lube to this stuff too? just making sure

dirty ass valves. i pulled the smaller one(dont know which is which). and it was clean all the way down, liquid oil frozen near the bottom, then white calcium looking stuff on the base
