'93 Limited
Hello all,

I'm glad to find this site and have already found answers to a couple of questions about driveability and performance improvement.

The ride is a '93 2WD Limited which is box stock except for aftermarket wheels. We bought it new and it has 61,000 miles, about time to change plugs and plug wires. Just changed out the radiator, thermostat and hoses... The radiator had a part time leak (never saw that before...?) and I did the hoses and thermostat just because I was in there and it seemed like a good opportunity. There ain't quite as much room under the hood as there was in the old big block '68 F100 I used to have for offroading in the desert, but it is not as bad as I expected. Still miss my Carter AFB, though...

Next is to tackle some of the fixes I have found on the boards on this site to smooth out the idle and constant throttle performance at low speeds, along with getting rid of some clatter I have been experiencing when going up hills.

Looks like a lot of information available here and some very friendly and helpful people, glad that Google pointed me in this direction!

Thanks for being here,

Steve

Welcome to the site:D

You have a rare Explorer...not too many 1993 Explorers made it out as Limiteds...If it is possible, can you tell me the build date on the drivers door sticker?

Thanks for the welcome...

Hello,

Yep, you are right, don't see too many Limiteds of that age around, and with just a passing glance I am not sure whether the few I do see are '93 or '94 vintage.

My '93 has a build date of Aug. 30, 1993, so I guess it is one of the last ones before the switchover to '94 production.

Changed out the plugs and wires today, definitely made a difference. Next is to check out the MAF sensor...

Welcome to the site!! I never knew they made a limited in 93, thats pretty neat.

Thats the thing....Usually cars built in September are the next years model. A few Limiteds were constructed at the very end of 1993 Production....Limiteds officially started in 1994.....

Late '93 Limited

Being a '93 model made a big difference when we bought the rig in October of that year, the '94's were already out and the '93's were heavily discounted. I couldn't tell much difference in appearance and equipment and was sure happy to save the $$$!
