Ok, here's the deal. I've recently run into some financial dificulties, and I'm afraid I'm going to have to sell the ex if something doesn't fall through for us. My question is, what does anyone think I can get out of the old boy?
Here's the specs: 1994 ford explorer XLT. 175,000 miles. runs great, and burns/leaks no oil or other fluids. New A4LD at 160,000 miles. BW 1354 electronic transfer case works perfectly. Class III/IV receiver hitch. Extra matching factory spare "sawblade" wheel. Uniden CB with a wilson 1000 antenna. VR3 CD/MP3/USB/SD media head unit. 3:27 gearing. Keyless entry/remote start. Brush guard with aux. lights on the front. Shackles. very clean, and good-running truck. I really hate to part with him, but I'm afraid it may come to that. Let me know what you think I might be able to get for the old boy!

...A quick search on KBB.com with your zip code shows approx. $2290..:dunno:

...Based on gas prices going up now, the age of the vehicle, and number of people selling stock first gen X's at this time, I would think that price is a bit high..

i wish my navajo was that clean..good job taking care of it tho

Nice dent on the driver rear quarter above the tire. Double steel, I have a near matching dent on my passenger right behind the door, it will be a PITA to fix.

Otherwise great looking explorer, if I had the cash I would easily give you $2,000 for it and would even be nice enough to resell it to you when your back on your feet. But I don't have the cash, currently out of work. My father sells vehicles for a living, fixing and selling to be truthful, do not take less than $1,800 for it if you ask me.

But since your down on your luck you may be forced to take a low ball offer, But I hope not. :(

Well, I'm sorry if this adds insult to injury... but the crazy reality is that you may get more parting it out.

I agree street value of about $2,000. Aftermarket parts often don't add much to value. There is actually some thought that a lot of aftermarket stuff reduces the value. You might be better off pulling the CB stuff out. Now, what will you get for it? If you drove this to a used car dealer and put out your hand, you might get $1,000. Probably do better on craigslist, will get closer to that $2,000.

Now, what if you part it out? You have a new auto trans with 10k miles, and a clean tight engine. That's $500 each. You have clean interior, intact door handles, looks like the body is nearly if not completely rust free.

I completely understand if parting out would be too much if you are attached to the vehicle. And, you need to add your time into the equation. Time spent taking it apart is time not looking for a job.

I sincerely hope something else comes through for you.

Yeah, I thought about parting it out, too. Seems a shame what with all the big plans I had for it. And yes, it is completely rust free! But, being that everything is in good shape and good working order, it really is kinda painful to think about parting it out! Oh, I forgot to add, I also changed out the automatic hubs to manuals, due to the automatic's tendency to grenade at the most inoportune moment! Anyway, thanks for the input, I've got a couple of options to think about now.

i can tell you what i was offered for mine and you can compare... 2750 and mines lifted, off road tires, 3rd row seating blabalblablablablablabla most stock 1st gens i see around here i could pick up between 800-1250

Stock, good running first gens in this area are usually going for 700-1500 depending on the condition (of course, they can be had for much less), though considering yours is entirely rust free, even with the large dent, you could probably get 2000 around here.

Good luck, I hope you don't have to part with your first gen, you obviously have been caring for it, and I hate to see a thoughtful caring owner separated from a good, reliable vehicle that they love.
