I bought a 00 XLT from a good friend of mine, and would like to spend some money on worthwhile upgrades. (I don want to lift it, buy new tires, etc) I'm looking at the fuel injector spacer kits and new chips right now. These seem to have what I'm looking for (better gas milage, etc).

I dont have a ton of money to spend, please keep that in mind.

Also, I'm having trouble with the IAC when I first start it. I've heard its pretty commong on the 4.0 SOHC engines. I live in Michigan, where its been about 0 degrees for the past month in the morning. Is the IAC a part I need to replace or does it just need to be adjusted to allow more fuel in? If I manually give it more gas on start up it runs fine, so I think an adjustment to allow more fuel is all it needs. However, I dont know how to do this.

I've already had a used car inspection done by a reputable auto shop that is owned by a friend of the family, is there anything else I should do when buying a used car? Anything I should clean, use additives/cleaner on, adjust, etc? The X runs great, theres always room for imrpovement though.

Any help is appriciated.

I would highly recommend the Explorer Express rear sway bar and new shocks ( I prefer the Rancho 9000x ).

A chip or flasher is a good mod as well as a KKM intake and a cat back exhaust.

There are no adjustments on the IAC. It can be cleaned, If its giving you problems, simply replace it.

Good luck...

Thanks, I'll head out to the garage and try to clean the IAC right now. Any tips on that?

Call me stupid.... but I cant find the IAV very well. I have a 00, the v6 SOHC. Does mine look any different from the one in the pictures? I feel stupid asking this, but in the time I spent (granted, it wasnt very long), I couldnt find where the IAC is mounted.

Thanks.

Pull your cover off the top of motor and you will see it right on top.

Thanks Aldive, you've been a lot of help.
