my uncle tells me i need an adapter that will go from extreme sound to sony. i try a couple stereo shops and none of them can help me.

I have been wondering how you can do this for a while as well. I want to keep my Sony disc changer, but would like to get a different brand HU. Is there any way around this??

The only way around it I can think of, if you can't get an adapter, would be to go to FM modulated...

I don't want to do that really. I hope there is someplace that does make an adapter. I doubt it, but worth a shot.

and that means?

Basically you control the disc changer through an addtional control panel and not through the HU. You have to tune your radio to a certain station to listen to it.

that sounds gay

it also sounds like crap

i'm gonna look into this

There is a place that people post on here a lot that sells adapters that let you connect stuff to your stock system. I know that's not what you wanted but they may be able to help. Personally I don't think there's any way you can hook up different brands of stereo equipment. Except with the fm modulator. Why would you think they'd work anyway?

While I was installing a new Alpine HU in my brother's J**p I noticed the Alpine & Sony plugs are exactly the same. I didn't see if it worked though, my changer is out of warranty and I didn't want to blow it up.

really??? Hmm...this may be worth a shot.

That's nice to know, thanks. Now only if we can find adapters to go between two different brands.
