I work at a parts store, and i just got my 17346 Dynomax SuperTurbo Kit. I will taking it to my buddy's shop to be installed saturday i think.

Be advised that the kit is designed for a 4dr w/ 4.0L SOHC. The muffler connections from the cats are longer than they are on a 2rd, but they can be cut and welded to fit the 2dr and that exactly what we will be doing.

I will take pictures and post information about the install. I've already replaced both catalytic converter assemblies with direct fit replacements from CarSounds. They are supposed to be higher flowing than their Walker OEM equivalants. Once this is complete i will be getting headers from Explorer Express and i will have a full exhaust system on a 98 sport w/4.0 SOHC.

Is there anyone else out there that has the Sport model with this Dynomax kit installed? If so would LOVE to hear any information on how you did it!

Anyhow, you guys can look forward to seeing some pics of this job soon.

Well, things didn't go as planned for this job. My in town mechanic said he "can do anything" so i bring him my truck and my muffler, he starts cutting, holds my truck for 2 days and then calls me at work and says he can't do it. So i ended up with a broken exhaust I HAD TO WELD BACK MYSELF!!!#$%#&$^&@^#$@ and then on the weekend i took a trip 2 hours out of town to a real city with more than 1 garage, and well the fun began....

On my way there i was running late so i decided to up the ante and go a little faster, (as 120km/h wasn't fast enough) so i pull out to pass this guy im following for about 75 km's and as soon as i get around him, this guy wearing a flourescent green vest walks onto the highway and points at me to pull over to the side. Low and behold, its the popo... Well, i landed myself a $283 dollar fine and 4 points for doing 138 in a posted 100 zone.... That was the beginning of my fun.
So then i eventually make it to the muffler shop (Speedy Auto), and the guy tells me, well your 25 minutes late, i'm very punctual, i cant do the job for you anymore i have other paying customers! My blood was starting to boil at this point. Being a saturday, everything closes at 1 and its already 10 am.. So i leave in a fury and go to a small shop, and they also say "yeah we'll get it done for you, 1 hour". So they get my truck up on the hoist, and after explaining to them that my muffler is made for a 4dr, they repeat this to me and tell me i bought the wrong muffler, because the one i have is for a four door. So needless to say, they refused to work on it because it was "the wrong piece". So as a last resort, i went to Midas and explained my situation to the girl at the counter. She must have felt my pain because she told me to pull it into the bay and they would take a look and give me an estimate. Once i was in there the mechanic said no its not possible, then the boss came out and i told him my story, and he looked at my exhaust. "Cut here here and here, have to shorten here," 2 hours he says.
It actualy took 1.5 hours. I had finally found competant mechanics!!
My thoughts on Speedy : Will never return, will never suggest them to ANY customer, (even ones i don't like) and if they ask why, i will tell them exactly what they did to me.
My thoughts on Midas : Prior to having them work on my truck, i would never have gone there because of their price, but after the work, I would definitly refer my customers to them for exhaust work and return for any other exhaust work i need done. Very professional people, and they made my abortion look like a stock piece that came from the factory.. Exactly what i was hoping for!
So the sad part is, i didn't get to take all the glamourous pictures because they wouldn't let me in the shop while they were working.. grrr, but i can still take picture of the completed installation, maybe it could help anyone that wants to tackle this with the same kit in the future on a 2dr. Just don't go to speedy, they begin trembling violently, and speedily send you out the same door you came in!

Oh, and it sounds AMAZING! Between 2300 and 3000 rpm it sounds like a finely tuned racing v6 engine, and when i tromp it, it turns heads! I was like a kid on christmas when i rolled out of the shop with it installed! I don't have much spare time but i will eventually post a sound clip, from outside parked, and from inside driving. Be patient

LOL sounds like a trip. Arent these mufflers supposed to be more "quiet" sounding? I am awaiting the video

It's rediculous that no one has the experience or want's to do custom work these days or if they do they want $$$ to do it.

I was quoted almost $400 to put a flowmaster 50 on my sport. My exhaust is already cut off and in the trash too, they just had to weld muffler, then bend a tail pipe. How friggin hard is it to bend a tail pipe? I ended up doing a redneck setup and upsizing the muffler side of the bolted connection that's after the cats keep the connection because I can't weld, then putting a muffler on, running a straight pipe till I hit the hangers that held the stock muffler, put a universal hanger in to hold the muffler and whatnot up, then put a tip. Clears the doors which is the law in NH I beleive. Cost $50. Cherry Bomb muffler btw, not very happy with the sound but will do for now because I"m NOT listening to a flowmaster 40, 50 or anything of the sorts on my upcoming move from New Hampshire to Arizona.

youd rather listen to a CHERRY BOMB over a FLOWMASTER? hmm...ess. on a 6 cylinder
