theres a member here on the forums who hosts a page that gives all years of explorers stats, his name is "ntrpriz." try a search for him.

on another note...you have a 2 door with a v8? are you sure? if you do, please post some pics, and did you put it in yourself, or buy it like that, etc?

A 2-door with a V8?!? Whoa! That's cool. I thought they didn't make them though? Tell more please!

Wow.....i'm interested in this...that's gotta be cool....

Ya, I'd like to see this one too since there is no such thing.

Unless it is custom, but I doubt it.

?

Yo i checked out the link u posted.... i got a question. Does the 98 V6 SOHC really run an 8.1 0-60 time? It lists the V8 as having a 8.1 second 0-60 time. Just curi9ous if these got switched up on acident.

Yes, the V6 SOHC has has nearly the same HP and torque of a V8 and is close to a 1000lbs lighter so it is a bit more agile than the V8.

Re: Re: ?

The 2-door is 200 lbs. lighter than the 4-door. The 4.0L saves another 200 lbs over the 5.0L. The SOHC gains most of its performance advantage through higher reving and the 5-speed auto versus the 4-speed auto. The 1/4 time difference between a SOHC Mountaineer and a 5.0L Mountaineer (both 4-doors) is 1.5 seconds, advantage SOHC. The 0-60 MPH difference is 1 second, again advantage SOHC.

The curb-weight on an '01 4x4 SOHC Sport is 3975 lbs (Motortrend 5/00). The curb-weight on a '98 AWD 5.0L Mountaineer is 4396 (Motortrend 6/99). The curb-weight on a SOHC AWD Mountaineer is around 4200 lbs, but I couldn't find the source.

sorry..havne't been around a while

yeah, it's a 96 sport 2 door with a V8. I just got it from my brother it's black, leather int., cd changer, but it has 80,000 miles on it. He got it special ordered through a friend....since he and my dad both worked at Ford, not to mention my dad has a patent on fuel pumps that Ford uses, so they buy their fuel pumps from him, so he gets what he wants from them.

PS

I just read my previous post to myself and relized i sound like a *****. Don't worry i dont get what i want, i went 3 years without a car.

so is your special ordered V-8 sport a 2wd, 4wd, or AWD?

if you have the $$ and the time, you should try something like Troll (www.speedfreak.cc scroll down the page to the project cars and click on the troll)

Beat me to it leenjen.

So, is it 4wd or AWD?

awd

hmm...not to sure, havent even driven it yet :), i'm in michigan he's in north carolina, so i'll ask him and get back to ya...i should get it this coming weekend.

thanks

thanks gimp, appreciated...so do i just need to get to the track? i live in milan, mi so its not far away, but i dont think of it as a race car or anything so i hate to roll up at the drag strip in an SUV and run 17 against a 12 second mustang, u know?

so make it into an intercooled twin turbo V-8 with nitrous. and dont forget to lower it for better handling.
then you'll really turn some heads.

Don't worry about that at Milan. I used to take my 19.2 second 4-cylinder Ranger there when I lived in Toledo. I wasn't even the slowest one there. Your V8 Sport certainly won't be the slowest one there either. It would probably run with the mid 90's stock Mustang GTs.

in Ypsi eh?? I'm in Ann Arbor, give me a holler, I'de like to see this one-of-a-kind in person.

michigander

well actually im' right out side a ann arbor...on hickory hollow, it's off carpenter and merrit.
