Just picked up a set of 4-door leaf packs off of a 1st gen Explorer! I can't wait to get them cleaned up and put on!

HEY dude thats good new to here.........

so im guess maybe ur gunna keep the X instead of getting that ranger ??

o well

PEACE

Hey are these the oens u stole off of my truck;) (inside joke )

Yea. I wasn't too thrilled with that, but they should just bolt right up in place. Atleast the better!

Where did you get thoes from?

the local junk yard. The only had 1st gen X's, so thats all i had to pic from. So i got the nicest they had. Paid $80 for them. I know its a little high, but once you add shipping charges, you'd prolly be paying the same amount.

I just got mine from Brett in Littleton, Co a week ago... Can't wait to get them on... He torched them off his old truck and the bushings are shot, so I'll have to figure out a way to get the bolts out and replace the bushings... They have a AAL installed, but I'll prolly take that out and put on Warriors - don't want my truck to ride that harsh.

Paid $25 and only had to drive them 2/3 across the country ;) (We were already in Boulder for spring break so it worked out great!)

Do you know if the 4 door leafs alone will lift the rear of the Gen 2 Sports? I've heard they will raise it anywhere from 1-2" before shackles.

No lift. They may take you back to stock height or 1/4" heigher but you would never notice it. The spring rate is not all that much different that the mono alone, just a bit and sturdier. You will be very happy with these.

If they already have the aal installed just keep it. It doesn't change the ride that much and no reason to change what's already there.

Just my opinion.

How could this not stiffen up the ride a whole lot? They were made to lift a 4 door 2-2.5" (from a rancho or duff lift i believe) so I would think my light Sport with its short wheelbase would ride pretty harsh...

Ah, a double aal.

Anyway, I've ridden in a 2 door with 4 door leaves and double aal and it felt great. I even rode in the back.

Since they're already installed I suggest you put on the leaves and drive around for a week or 2. If you don't like it, then swap the aal for shackles. Just saying, no use doing more work and spending more money if you don't have to. Also those aals are keeping those oldish leaves from failing.

Yeah, I'm all about saving money... I don't know if they are double or not though... Brett couldn't remember which leaf was the AAL - these were off his old wrecked '91 4 Door. Whats the purpose of the overload spring? Does it affect ride or is it only there for carrying a heavy payload? It looks like it would hang up alot off road since it's ends stick out from the leafs... Brett told me he just removed the overload spring from his gen 1 Sport when he did his Duff lift

ive got shackles 4dr leaves and aals on my 97 sport and i still think the springs are too soft. if the back end is loaded up it still sags.
