Hi,

I ordered last Thursday a MAC CAI for my '01 Sport Track. I picked it up yesterday and installed it last nite. Gotta say I am impressed with the shipping. Please keep in mind I am an automotive modification newbie. I have some comments and questions:

1. The instructions seemed a little short, although I believe I figured out how to install the CAI, step-by-step instructions would have been better. Specifically the setup of the CAI tube onto the MAF sensor, the installation of the rubber gasket, the grommets that attach the filter body to the truck, the installation of the blue connectors and the external hoses onto the CAI tube.

2. To hook up one of the two hoses back to the CAI tube required the use of an extra extension hose like material. There was no mention of this in the instructions, I believe that it is ok.

3. I couldn't get the second hose fully inserted into the CAI tube body. Is this normal or should I really work it into the hole?

The unit looks quite sharp installed in my truck.I'll give the truck some time to adapt to the mod, but immediately the truck felt more responsive.

This is the second mod I have done, the first was an Apten chip and I am looking forward to some difference in the performance of the truck

Kevin.

Oops,

I forgot one question.

How often should I change/clean the air filter?

Kevin

Most companies recommend cleaning the filter every 50k or before. I usually clean mine every 18-24 months.

You do not need to replace it unless it gets badly damaged.

Just keep an eye on the filter every once in a while, and once it starts looking dirty go ahead and clean 'er up (or replace it?).

Also, did you disconnect the negative battery cable when you installed the new intake? That'll reset the computer so it can learn the new air/fuel ratios.

If you haven't done that yet, It's easy to do, and you'll probably notice even more difference after you do it.

I did disconnect the neg battery terminal and I did feel a difference when I started it up and drove off.

I was thinking that the computer woud take a bit of time to relearn the new intake and chip.
