This morning going to work, driving around 55-60mph I started to notice this weird sound that appeared to be coming down low and in front of me. I'm not sure how to exactly describe it, but it seemed to correlate with the engine cycling while giving the explorer gas. Its almost like a repetitive low souding gurgle/popping noise. It appears to start happening at about 50mph and I would say 5th gear. Once I accelerate and the explorer shifts again, I do not hear it, but that could be because It is now going around 70mph, not a speed I cruise around at.

Has anyone had a sound like this at all? First things that came to my mind are exhaust leak or a transmission noise. The car drives and shifts perfect and there are no other sounds so I am not sure.

Hi royski,

You can always have your dealership check this out; they'll be in the best position to diagnose the noise and determine if any action is necessary. I'm happy to get your regional customer service manager involved as well; shoot a PM my way with your VIN, dealer, mileage, daytime phone number, and full name so I can get this into their hands.

Crystal,

Thank you for the reply.

I have to schedule an oil change and recall fix soon so will have them take a look then. I was just seeing if anyone has anything similar going on, but it does not look like it.
