Well, I finally did a somewhat real mod to my X. I put on a set of 4dr leafs and some shackles. I love it now! It was VERY easy to do. Took about 2 hrs to do it all for a me and a friend. I didn't expect to be able to see the difference in the shackles, but it's really noticable when you park next to a normal X. Thanks to all the folks here that got me into the mod scene..(not to mention burning up my wallet real soon). Thanks to Rick for running the site and all the folks who contribute so often. Gonna send in money for elite status immediately!

are the 4dr leafs stiffer or something? Does it give you a little lift?

the ride seems a bit stiffer, but that could just be psychological after putting them on. the sport has a mono-leaf on it since it weights less. it also sags a lot when loaded down. the 4dr ones are made to hold more weight so now my sport won't sag when loaded. plus.. i plan on doing an SOA eventually and i wanted them for that too.

curtis,... no pics of the shackles yet.

"92 4 dr rear leaf springs

I'm making a mod to the rear leafs of our '92 4dr XLT 4x4 that has 160,000. The rearend unloaded sits level, but when you put 3 kids and a pile of stuff in back the rear sits a bit lower that the front. The headlights shine a bit high unloaded, too. I suspect the original leafs are sagging. I got 2 sets of rear leafs from our local U-Pick Parts from lower mileage 4 drs. I took both sets apart, picked the better looking set and rounded off all the corners, edges, etc. I then tossed the lower 3 leaves from one pack and cutoff the eyes of the remaining leaf. A local machine shop will drill the holes for the plastic spacers. I'll reassemble the pack into a 5 leaf pack after making new clamps. The first and second leaf are almost the same length. I'm hoping after installing the 5 leaf pack to raise the rear about 3/4" and stiffen the rearend. I did this to a '77 Ford E-150 and it works great.
