I just put on my JBA headers on Memorial Day. I was surprised it actually took 6 hours. The removal only took an hour because I had air tools. The parts that took the most time were tightening some of the bolts by hand and making all the parts fit together. My Y-pipe was to long so I had to cut it and then my EGR tube wouldn't match up. I had to take off the pump and cut a slot in the bracket so I could move the pump and make it fit. Anyway, after 6 hours turning wrenches (and cut of wheels) I got my headers on. After driving for a while, about an hour, my check engine light came on. I can't find any signs of exhaust leeks and I installed my O2 sensors right. What could be causing this? I'm going to disconnect my battery cable to clear the light so I can see if it's going to come back on. I'm stumped please help!

I installed a set on my 97. I had some of the same problems that you had. My check engine light came on. I forgot to plug that little wire into the top of the egr. Other wise I had no problems. Hope this helps.

I have a non-CA truck. I lost the second O2 sensor plug. JBA was kind enough to send 2 replacements in 3 days. The EGR plug was also lose, but I got to that one in time to tighten it up. BTW, the O2 size is 18mm and the EGR plug is 32mm, if you need that info to make sure they are tight.

I don't know what would cause the "check" light to come on off hand.

Glad to hear that your install only took 6 hrs. Mine took about 10 with air tools, torch and plenty of Snap On tools.

You may want to pull the codes if this happens again.

How do I pull the codes? I called JBA and they said it might be a false reading(?) they told me to disconnect my battery cable for 30 seconds to clear the light. Doing that works for a little while but after a couple miles or about 15-20 minutes the light comes back on. Thanks for the help so far.

What you need to do is cover the check engine light with some electrical tape.

Thanks, but I already fixed the problem. I had a tube disconected from the top of the EGR thing.
