I am currently running with just a drop in. A higher flow filter will always help a bit, but to feel real gains you need the intake kit. With the conical open element, and a less restrictive system I believe that 26 hp is possible. I would definately consider it if ya have the extra green. If ya want to save a little and retain the quality go with the KKM. If ya want a pretty one check out the MAC. Then there is the K&N FITPK.
Will it add 26 HP = No
Is it worth it = Yes........but
I have one but coupled it with other mods which made it really shine. I am sure if you get one and don't have other mods it will still help but not as much if you had something else, espcially exhaust. It will definitely sound better though. The intake gives the engine a nice roar when you step on it.
I ran a K&N on my 99 Z28 for a month or so. No noticable performance gains compared to a premium paper filter, and I was not impressed with the maintenance requirements. Just my opinion.
I had a drop in in my last x 97 sport and noticed no gain in any department. I just wanna know if anyone has put the air charger system in there 02+ and what gains they noticed
26 hp? Yes, if you a running a twin turbo setup with a air filter from a v4 honda accord. In an explorer? Expect to feel your top end acceleration pick up a little bit, especially in cold weather.
