(this all happened saturday up until yesterday) well i got my K&N about a month ago and i was installing my hella 500 driving lights and decided to "recharge" my filter so i take it out and follow the instructions on the box. so i get around to oiling it and i let it dry for a good half hour. i out it back in and am done with my lights so i decide to take it for a spin. after i get around the block and am turning onto my street i floor it and my car goes nowhere so i let off and i idle home with the truck sputteriing. so monday i take my ex to the dealership where i bought it around 2:30 and they have it for the rest of the day and decide at the end of they day that they need to send it to Ford but they wont be able to get it in til 3 oclock the next day and i was like fine i can find rides to places i need to go so i say fine. i call the dealership around 4:30 on tuesday and ask if they are done and he said Ford hasnt gotten back to us so i call Ford and ask if they are done and they say yeah it was the MAF. It has oil on it from a K&N filter and i was like WTF. i know people that have been running these filters forever and he said well those kind of filters are not recommended for that vehicle. so i call my dealership and say it is ready and he says well let me call and see if your insurance is going to cover a new MAF and he calls me back and says unfotunately mr dozier your warranty covers your engine but not your emissions. and i was like WTF the MAF is under the hood it is part of the engine and he said no sir its not. so i say where is my car and he says it will be here any minute so i sit down and the guy walks off and then comes back about 20 minutes later and hands me my keys and a piece of paper that says i owe them 65 bucks for a diagnostic fee and i said why do i owe you that when yall didnt even fix my car and neither did Ford? and he said because we ran some tests but couldnt find anything. and i was like no you didnt you probably just drove it around and felt what it was doing. and he said well i dont really know how they test to see what is wrong with the vehicles but it is 65 dollars so i paid the ******* and went home and got on the net and found this

Isn't this site great!!! Now you should take some money you saved and give it to Rick (become an elite member).

what are you talking about? i am out 65 bucks!! and i am not going to become elite when i dont have the time or money to go on the trail rides yall do. why would i give MY money to someone i have never even met? i will admit that this site has been a great help and my truck looks great and thanks but no thanks.

How much is it to become an elite member?

Next time you clean your Filter-let it dry like overnight or something before reinstalling it so that the oil has time to dry.

I clean my about every 6-9 months. I always let it dry at least 8 hours. I have never had a problem. The oil probably got into your MAF because the oil was still wet when you installed it.

99EXP: Rick set this site up and all the funds for it come out of his pocket. I gaurantee you will save a bunch more cash from this site so maybe once you have a few duckets you can return the favor.

MyExpWork: I think it's $30 and then $10 a year. I joined just to support this site. It has helped me tremendously!

KN filter oil is meant to be a little moist on the filter. I've never had filter oil cross the membrane, even when I accidentally spilled a 1/4 bottle on the filter. Sometimes I lightly clean and reoil mine while it's still installed in the vehicle and have never had any problems with oil.

i agree.... i became elite before i ever met rick..... i just loved the site so much..... $30 to initiate it and then $10 a year is not that hard to live without.......

about the k&n, ihave never had a problem with the oil clouding up the maf....
