K N Filter

Can someone help! I bought a K N filter for my mountaineer but it doesn't seem like it is gonna fit. The store swears it is the right model and I can't get K N to email me back. Has anyone ever done one of these before?

What motor do you have and what is the part # of the filter?

I have a 5.0 and the part # is E-0996

You may need part # 33-2106-1. Is your stock filter round or flat? The 33-2106-1 is for a flat filter and the E0096 is for a round filter.

My factory is the flat one I think, I'll ask the husband when he gets home. The one we saw the first time bolted up to the MAS and this one doesn't look like it will work at all unless we drill it and bolt it that way.

The one that bolts up to the MAS is the FIPK, or entire kit. The filter alone will not be able to do that. Don't think KN has an FIPK specifically for your model though. If you want the large cone filter replacement, go with a KKM www.kustomz.com intake or a MAC intake.

If you have the stock round filter you can just remove the air box and crimp the band that holds the air box on a little tighter and it will hold the filter on with out the air box. Free open element air cleaner...

i did exactly that........
