First off, let me say long time ford owner, first time member here.

Now, I just got a 13 explorer with the Sony sound system, don't know if this matters. Every car that I have ever owned with an aftermarket camera or factory, the passenger side of the car is on the right side of the screen, not the left 🤦. Is there a way to mirror the image so when looking at the camera the passenger side is on the right side of the screen?

As for the key fob question... I have one fob. I ordered one from the dealer (only way to get one cheaper than aftermarket 🙄). Is there a way to program it without paying someone, or the dealer?

I'm guessing that perhaps the camera was replaced at one time and it wasn't programmed to the vehicle or that it is actually defective.
Are you able to check and see if there are any trouble codes set?
As for the key, the Owner's Manual says you must have 2 programmed keys to program another one, so with only 1 programmed key you are out of luck. Since you ordered through the dealer ask them how much they charge to program it. I've read several posts from a few uyears ago that mentioned $55. It may be just as easy to have them do it.

Ya, I haven't seen any camera codes yet, but I keep getting an O2 high circuit code, which sucks because I can't remote start the explorer with a CE light on.

I don't know if the camera has been replaced but I have been having issues with it, lines through the screen or a black screen. Last time I scanned all modules it was working fine.

Given the age of the vehicle, it may be that the camera is starting to fail. There have been several camera replacements on the earlier Explorers.
Usually a message comes up that says to see your dealer.

You can program additional keys (meaning you must have both keys you wish to program in, present to reprogram them both at once using this method) using an ELM327 compatible OBD2 dongle, connected to a windows host device (phone, tablet, laptop, etc) using Forscan app and its free 2 month extended license trial. Details on Forscan's site:

This was the answer I was kinda hoping for. I was wondering if Forscan could program keys or not.

Edit....

Just started to read the link, it appears it's a key, I have a push button to start, no key. Will this still work? It is a 2013. The instructions say up to 2011.

Forscan can program keyfobs too, so yes it should work, but you should also double-check my assertion by reading about it in their forum.

That's the thing, I don't see anything about FOBs in the forum. Think I found 3 posts about them. Everything seems to be about blade keys and programming. I need an invite code to register to ask for sure if it will do this.

Looks like I am at the mercy of hoping my local dealership can get a FOB and pay their prices.

Bet this would be so much easier 7 years ago.

I think the method requires a certain version of Forscan or newer. Here's a topic and a post from someone who had it work, on a "2013 Explorer Limited with Push Button Start and the Smart Key Fob" no less:

I have never done this myself so you'll have to get more info from that topic or once you're a member of that forum, could ask there or pm the author of the topic post I linked to?

Yeah was a bad link, see edited post with new link.
🤔🤔🤔 Will definitely read all the posts later. Have to run out for a bit.

I have been looking into other options, dealership, aftermarket (dorman 99377, sold out everywhere), ace hardware (more than the dealer), Toms Keys..... 🤔🤔🤔 Thought about renting his programmer and getting FOBs off eBay/Amazon.

But will read that thread later as Forscan would provide more options later on as well.

So, I went ahead and bought the vLinker cable and got the 2 month extended license..... It was simple. Took a whole 15 minutes to program 2 keys I got from ebay.

If anyone else does this, just make sure you use the RFA PATS module.
