Hi to all! Yes I am a newbie. I recently left my old Ranger Forum for unforseen reasons...cough, um, cough repossession. So anyway, now I'm into an unfortunate 2002 2WD 4.0L Xplorer 153,000miles...shoulda done my homework first because honestly this thing is a peice of junk. Hmm...lets see, my tranny slips and hesitates, rear-end hums like no tomorrow, power driver seat quit working the day after I bought it....lalalalalalala many other things.

Anyway, back to the real topic. Where can I find the RAP module with the keyless entry code on it. I've looked through several other threads on this topic but they all speak of finding the RAP module in the rear quarter access panel on the driver side. Apparently this only applies to 01 and older X's. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone wants to buy this hunk of junk please email me. I'd love to get rid of it.

I have a 2003 Explorer Sport. RAP module is under the windshield vent on the right side of vehicle. Take a flashlight and shine it through the outside of windshield looking under dash. bold print numbers are your keyless code.

So your telling me that anyone can do this and get the code and open your car????????

I have a 2004 mountaineer, and mine was in the Rear Passenger area.

I just hadda pull that red switch in the mid-row seats and push the seat forward, then work the plastics out with a screw driver, and bend the panel just enough to peek in there and get the Code right on the side of the wireless box, next to the barcode.

I suppose anyone could if they were really desperate. If I left my door unlocked it is possible they could pop up the windshield vent on the dash, then go outside and peer into the opening left by the now vacant vent. Of course its hard to see the numbers in the daylight so they would need to do it in the evening. Here is the link.

Ahh Ok, I did see that you had to pop the dash panel up then go outside to see it. I thought Ford was out of their mind putting something like that on the trucks.

only for particular models. i think it would be a good idea to have a sticky about this subject listing year/trim/location for retrieving this code.
