My keyless entry pad on my 01 explorer is partly working and I was wondering if that is the reason why I cannot use the factory code to unlock it. When I press buttons 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 and 9/0, the lights come on inside. It doesn't work for 7/8. I can't lock the doors either with the keypad. When I enter the factory code (recovered from the Anti-Theft module under dash) it doesn't unlock. None of the digits use 7/8, so I'm not sure why it's not working. I'm assuming I'm getting power and it should be working. Any thoughts?

I believe to locks the doors you press 7/8 & 9/0, so that may explain that. But not sure on the unlock if your code doesn't have 7/8.

I still have an issue with mines, the only difference is all the buttons light up the interior lights & I can lock the doors via pad BUT I can't unlock the doors via code. I haven't had any luck on possible suggestions but since my pad is wired was thinking possibly a wire in the door jam boot was suspect. I haven't been in to check again (I was in there months back fixing 3-4 other wires that were cut and didn't notice anyothers) I may of missed one. I tried looking at a wiring diagram before for it but not in awhile. You know what assuming does but (not being a mechanic) I would then think my issue and possibly yours is the code isn't sending the power to its destination for it to actually unlock?

Yeah I hear you. Mine is wired also. I didn't check any wires when I had the door panel removed to replace the window regulator. I'll recheck again. I guess my main question is whether or not one faulty button will cause the PATS not to recognize the key pad, even if your code does not contain that faulty key.

Also not sure if it's related or if I was just not doing it correctly, I couldn't get a generic 3 button dongle to connect and unlock/lock the truck either. It's just unnerving to not have a backup cause all I got was one key and one dongle when I bought my truck. Ford wants close to a $150 for a new key and dongle. If I get the keypad working I'd feel a little better.

I'm in the same boat, 1 key 1 remote.

So it's pats that receives the code? I wonder if it's not set to sync with the code for some reason. I remember looking back at my service work and thought I noticed something to do with pats, whether it was a upgrade or what, I'll have to look at that again. The code I have is from the actual card with the manual booklet & cd. I had that so didn't need to or want to look at the label under the dash/airbag

When I was talking about checking wires I meant in the door jamb covered by that rubber boot, not behind the actual door panel.
