Just bought my second 97 XLT... It has factory keyless entry. Having some issues getting either the keypad or FOBs to work.

Symptoms:

Keypad does not even light up when pressed.
None of the FOBs work
Performing the 5 times on-off cycling does not result in any unlock/lock activity

I've done the "reset the FOB" on my other explorer, so I know I'm doing it right.

Can it be that my PAM is just fried?

- Light and keypad operation pretty independent - my light went out last year but keypad still works.
- Does simultaneously pressing the 7-8 and 9-0 buttons on keypad lock doors? Don't need code for that.
- 5 digit code for keypad is printed on Remote Access Personality (RAP) module; in cargo compartment on drivers side - pull off access panel and look forward.
- Don't know much about key fobs; mine has always worked w/o any problem.
Good luck!
