My keyless remote dosent work while the engine is running. I assume this is a feature to keep from locking yourself out, but I'd like to be able to lock the car while it's still running. Does anyone know how I might override this setting?

Man, that is PERFECT for warming up on a cold day.
Start 'er up and lock the doors.

Hey, I'll be in Raleigh in two weeks.
( incase you care :) )

That keypad works all the time! On long trips I'd practice putting in my code while driving without lookin! :D I get bored.

I'd like to use the kaypad, but I don't have the code! When I bought it (used) the dealer didn't know the code and I never investigated how to re-program it. I don't know the user code or the dealer code, so I don't know what to do with it... Up until now I didn't have a need for it...

There are a few places on the vehicle that you can find the permanent code. Do a search and you can find where they are.

The remote won't work when the key is in the ignition. It's supposed to be that way. You wouldn't want to accidentally hit the panic button while driving down the road. :)

If you have the original manual, the card might still be there with the number. Otherwise, I believe the code is on the bottom of the computer found in the rear compartment where the jack is..... Search How to Reprogram Keypad and you should hit on threads with the exact details.

I do that too!! But back to the subject, only the keypad works when the engine is on.

When I try to use my keypad, it sets off the alarm when the first digit is pressed... Is this normal? I have to input the others while the truck is honking furiously at me. Is there a way around this? I've been using the master code on the side of the computer.

I would still like to be able to use the remote when the car is running, and NOT the keypad.

If anyone knows how this can be accomplished please let me know.

PS I know I can use the Keypad, so please dont tell me to use it.:)

use a spare key??

I wanna use the remote when the vehicle is running. I have a cheap remote starter that can use the factory remote. But the factory remote is useless once the vehicle is started. (Pressing lock 3 times on the Ford remote starts the car.)

do you have a remote starter?

I just tried mine and it worked for me. I tried the panic button, that didn't work. So they must have changed it.
I don't have the touch pad, just the remote.

I have the same type setup. I wired mine so I am able to use the remote when the car has been started with the remote starter.

The only way the anti-theft module knows the engine is on is it has a wire going to it that supplies power when the ignition is on. Use a relay to cut the power to this wire when you start it with the remote start. All to easy.

i have a bulldog remote starter and when i remotely start the X i cannot open the doors with the factory remote, i have to use the keypad or actual key itself. thats why i always unlock the doors first then remotely start the X.

My remote start has an extra output that only has power when the unit is on. I wired in a normally closed relay to the ignition power wire on the anti-theft box and used that extra output as the trigger. When I use the remote start to start the truck, it energizes the relay and opens the ingition power circuit of the anti-theft module. This way the anti-theft module does not know that the engine is running. When I put my key in the ignition and let the truck power itself the remote start cuts off and the relay closes so everything is back to normal.

If I could change anything I would do this to whatever wire tells the GEM that the truck is running also. Even though the remote works and unlocks the door with the car running, the interior lights don't come on when you unlokc the doors like they normally would.

I can't seem to find my CD so I can't tell you what color wire it is, but I'm sure somebody has a diagram for the anti-theft system.
