Got this '91 X not too long ago. I got and gave some input on Door hinges, and Hubs and other things I have tinkered with but here's a question.

Did Ford issue a key that was only good for the Drivers door and ignition?
The other day I washed the car and in the morning the Drivers side Lock was Frozen. The wife used some 4 letter words liberally that morning. Anyway, I figured what are the odds that the Passenger door and the rear Hatch would be frozen too. Well in all cases the Key would go in and not turn. Now that the Temperture is well above freezing I still can't get the Passenger door or hatch to lock or unlock with the key. I haven't had the X for that long and it never came up to try and unlock it from the Hatch or Passenger side before the freeze.

Sounds like maybe the doors aren't keyed alike.. More than likely the drivers door was replaced and they just used the new lock and not keying them alike..

Its a good possibility that those other locks have not been used in 10+ years. Lots of WD-40 over a couple of days will loosen them up.

Thanks.
OK I figured Ford wouldn't have a "service" key that acted this way but thought I'd ask.

I very indirectly know the previous owner, I'll see if he has history on rekeying the drivers door.

I've started the WD-40 ritual the morning the Locks were frozen : )

Thanks again

My key doesn't work on the passenger side either. It does on the hatch though. Probably gonna try the wd40.
