Kicker L7's/CVR's

ok ok ok.........i have spent a lot of time/money with all this audio stuff, i have a chance to get 2 brand new 12"L7's, they are each in seperate ported boxes (1'x2.5'x1'), my friend is asking $400, i was thinking-sell my Type R's in the 3/4" MDF 2.5cu foot box for around $200, then sell this extra amp i have (Performance Teknique 1200 watts)-i'm still not sure, just wondering if it would be worth the hassle, i've heard L7's before in the same style ported boxes in a Maxima, and they bang (hard), i'm sure they would sound great in my ex! Opinions............?

Wll 12" L7s cost in the ballpark of $350 each, and that would be $700 for both, then a box ($100-150), so a $800 set of woofers and box for $400 thats a deal, you could probally bargin with him and take them for 350. Just make sure the ohms match your choice of amps.

I think you should they hit pretty hard

is this guy from taiwan or something? he is causing havok all over the boards with his poor english!!

but back to the topic....

i myself have a single 12" L5, it hit a lot harder in my cougar but still bumps enough to satisfy me in my X, on a few songs that i play for the simple fact that i love the bass line, if i keep my windows up and crack the sunroof just a tad, you can feel air rushing in and out...

i can only imagine what the L7's would do...you may want to upgrade your suspension :) j/k

i would only pay $400 for the set if they are the silver colored 2002 models, you can keep the box you have now if it will fit 2 12" round speakers and just recut the holes, thats what i did and it worked out fine for me

MO_GUY, i'm not sure if you understood but i had a choice between 2 L7's(2002, yes silver) or 3 Comp VR's(2003)Dead Link Removed
I never had the L7's......instead i got the 3 VR's, the guy who i was gonna buy the L7's from, his uncle owns a local shop-i got the 3 VR's in a box for $300 (great price) shops usually buy the subs for around $79.99, and usually sell them to customers for 120 and up, so i got a killer deal.
i'll have pics this weekend.

ok well im kinda the late poster here, but in your first post that you started the thread with you never said a word about the comp vr's, but good choice, give them more power than recommended, you'll be happy

This post was where things changed-but ya you're right they require 400 watts RMS, i got three, thats approx. 1200 watts rms. My Fosgate bd1500.1 is obviously only one channel (bridged) and is putting out around 1735 watts, so they are getting more power than they need RMS, so as you can imagine-they bang!

oh my god. these are my babies... i know the picture is off centered and whatnot, i blame it on the camera =] anyways, these things thump hard, i love em (12" l7s and kx1200.1 [1420 watt certified]) setting off car alarms is fun =]

thats pretty clean-my friend has same set up in a maxima.......minus the fact that he has a ported box for each sub (1.5'x2.5'x1') i don't know what size the port is but these thing's thump-excursion on them is unbelievable......

im kinda **** about some audio stuff, but what size are your caps? you really only need 1 farad per 1000 watts, and i can see that the sub on the left is just a tad crooked :p

it looks way better than my install, i just ran my wires under the carpet(with exception of 12 disc changer), put some velcro on the bottom of the box so it wont slide and screwed the amps to the back of the box out of sight, works for me....i wanna put my RF Power HX2 back in the X to see how it thumps

1 farad each, i figured id need another (the 2nd one) after i got my seperates and amp them... i plan on getting a 600 watt 4 chan... 1400+600=2000... thats the only reason i went w/ 2

whats the model number of your PT amp?

ICBM-DIGITAL? isn't it like ICBM-77? like that? i used to run a ICBM-779

nope, it's called ICBM-DIGITAL, i put a picture of the box on my webpage, was your icbm-779 1 ohm stable?

nope 2 ohm stable-1200 watt max
