well i've wanted to run my friends tundra ever since i got my truck about 6 weeks ago..well tonight we went at it ..1st race was to about 60 and i pulled 2+ truck lengths..next race was to 80+ and as soon as my truck shifted into 3rd it detonated like crazy because im running 89octane w/ a hypertech power programer..so the race could have went worse for him but maybe next time... just to be fair im sure his truck would kill mine if it was stock.. his only mods are exhaust and syn.oil..
i have 4 mods:
1.7 cobra roller rockers
hypertech power programer
75mm mass air w/ k&n
dual dynomax race magnum mufflers w/ turndowns at the axle and deleted the last 2 cats..

these mods have made a HUGE difference in the truck..

right on....
i got my ass handed too me last night. i raced a 3000gt turbo. my friend erics. hes got a turbo kit and all kinda crap in it. oh well. when my cougar is running ill roast him.

is his the 3000GT VR-4? if so, i dont see how any cougar can beat it. it's a very light car with AWD and a twin turbo V-6. you could probably beat him with a 300ZX twin turbo (if you dont spin the rear wheels), but not a cougar.

STREET RACING IS EVIL!!!!!

Hey, I've got a 5.0L too. How do you like the mods you've done so far? Is the Power Programmer worth twice as much as a normal chip? Did your exhaust work make a big difference? I've already got the KKN and MAS and I was wondering what to do next but there aren't alot of people with modified 5.0s. Thanks

supercharge that 5.0, thats the best bang per buck

yup...chargers are the best bang for the buck....only problem is there is a big initial investment.... small payments @ least to me, are easier to handle than big ones....

z's are the best..i've wanted a 300zx tt for the longest time..sooner or later i'll get one

BTW you louz you didnt kill that tundra

its not a new cougar.
a 68 cougar that is undergoing an engine swap. from a 302 to a 514.
that vr-4 turbo will get smoked. unless its an 8 second car

my mistake.... i was thinking a newer cougar.
it'll still be a close race. his AWD does give him an advantage off the line. and that V-6 revs pretty high (= lots of turbo boost). if you have the quicker reaction time, and get the wheels to grip, you'll probably win.

yeh but this car will run high 9's to low 10's without the supercharger im planning for it

is it just going to be a drag car?
or will it be street legal?
how far along are you? it sounds cool.
i wish i could get my dad to take his 69 mach 1 out of his garage. he only drove it on the street once in the past 4 years.

haha this thing wont be street legal one bit. just the engine its self isnt street legal. but ill still drive it around from time to time. itl be registered as a 302. and no one will no the difference unless they look under the hood. and if they ask why so loud... i just say its my flowmasters =)

how far am i along? well i have the car. it runs kinda. still has the 302 in it. waiting on the money to buy the engine. i applied for a loan and ill find out next 2 weeks if i get it.

yah, seems most the guys on here are just into doing minor stuff to their explorers like neon and crap like that...i dont have a problem crackng into the motor if i have to .. i still looking for a deal to pop up in some TFS or AFR heads for my truck...looking for mid 14s on the motor then i'll S/C it ...as for the power programmer..nah its not worth the $350 it sells for..the only reason i got it was because it was used and i picked it up for like $150.. and i KNOW its making a difference because my truck will detonate like crazy on 87 octane and just a bit with 89.. really needs 91 to work right...oh and the exhaust was a MAJOR improvment...what i did was un-bolt the last 2 cats and stashed them away in the back yard...then i made 2 new flanges and started my new exhaust from there... so if need be i could just un-bolt it all and go back to stock in like 30 minutes..im going to cut off the 2 front cats, gut them, then re-install them so it looks like they are there..the rockers were a good improvment too... dont forget about those because the small a$$ stock cam w/ the gt-40p heads is just begging for some more lift...but get rid of the exhaust restrictions 1st then do the rockers...
i just got a hold of a extra balancer and im going to make up some underdrive pulleys for my X too... should work out to be another 10hp or so ...

1.7 rockers

just wondering how hard it was to replace the rockers. Is there anything I should know before I take off my valve covers and go nuts?

Thanks,
Brian

I've got a registered track time of 14.1 sec on the qtr mile at moroso in WPB, FL just with the mods ive done below
