KKM Intake -- LUV IT !!!!

I just got mine today and put it on. It took all of twenty mins. to put on. Mine is a 4.0. The only difference I see with the 4.6 is the screws for the MAF sensor use a T-15 torx bit driver. I will post pics.later this week. I let someone borrow my camera. It is a sweet set-up. I LOVE IT!

Good to know! I'm thinking about getting one for my '07

you should. it might as well be a required mod for anyone on this site. Love it.

I had trouble putting on my KKM, nothing serious. I installed without instructions btw. The airbox was a ***** to get off, because you feel like your gonna break it. Also once I installed the KKM it wasnt a tight fit, even after adjusting the clamps. So basically I heat taped the shiat out of the intake and hosing. It is not much louder at all on my 4.0L, but my Gibson exhaust will be in this week so that will help. I am not sure if the intake is worth it on a 4.0L. The stock air box is massive, is protected more from heat, and it has that tube running through the grill for air (kind of like a CAI extended tube). I am happy with it, but not over-joyed.

anyone else notice a slight whistle after the KKM was installed? how can i remedy this?

Yeah, I call it the "Batmobile Sound". I like it! :)

My KKM has an annoying whistle it makes, usually when I let off a little pressure on the gas peddle. When the revs drop it makes that annoying whistle. I have checked for leaks and there are none. And to further prove that I heat taped the whole thing.

Yhall said it is slight, but mine is loud as hell. It makes the car sound like my brake pads are non-exisitant, or my belts are messed up.

Is that intake available for the V-6 or is it only for the V-8 Explorers?

just have a look at the KKM-site, guess all available kits will be listed. As far as I remember it should be av. for the V6 , too.

Well, it is in. As for getting teh old airbox out, it is really, really simple if you inbolt the two 10mm bolts on the coolant overflow tank and pop it out of the way on the 4.6L. That way the intake tube part comes out super easy.

I also have the whistle though. Kinda odd, but it sounds great when stepping on the gas.

X DEACON - did you get a chance to take any pictures yet? :)

did any of guys have trouble disconnecting the maf sensor mine would not pull off so i just reinserted it once the kkm was installed. Is there some kind of trick to it.

can anybody please help me out

...I would be more than glad to help but this thread may not get as many responses to your problem...It would also help if you had posted what year/make/model you are having your problem with...If you had your location next to your name someone local to you may be able to assist in giving a hand..;)

....Now, which item did you request help with, your MAF or your busted bolt???
