I just got my KKM TrueRev Sport Induction Kit in the mail today.
Now, I know there are a bunch of threads out there about this filter and the install is pretty straight forward, but I thought it would be nice to give a "play by play" for those who may be interested in doing this mod, so they have a better idea of how to do this. All you need is a flathead screwdriver, and a 3/8" wrench (socket or box-end, your call).
1) Get your new filter out of the box and see how shiny it is. :biggthump
2) Open up the hood and locate the air box. It's the black plastic thing in the front left. Open up the air box and remove the air filter. Now's a good time to unhook the battery and unplug your MAF. The MAF is the piece right after the air box, handle it with care.
3) Remove the air box lid from the intake tube by loosening the metal band around the tube behind the MAF. It should just twist out.
4) Unscrew the MAF from the lid. I'm pretty sure you can just unscrew the MAF from the air box lid leaving it attached to the intake tube, but it's easier to access the screws with the MAF detached from the tube.
This is looking into the MAF still attached to the air box lid.
5) At this point remove the rest of the air box by just pulling it out. It's held in by 4 rubber grommets, two on the side, and two underneath. These will just pull out, leave the grommets in if you wish. You should be left with this...
6) Now you can attach the MAF to the new filter using the 4 bolts included with the kit, one is longer. The longer bolt is for the mounting brace. When KKM ships this unit they put the mounting brace in the position it needs to be in when you install this filter. If you're an idiot like me and take this off without marking it, it belongs on the upper front corner. (The side of the hole with the arc is the top). It will line up with the MAF only one way. Don't use the old MAF gasket, it isn't necessary.
7) Reattach the MAF to the intake tube and tighten the metal band. The brace attaches to the front bulkhead right next to the radiator. There is an existing hole there to put the bolt thru, which can be accessed from the large hole on top of the bulk head.
VIOLA! You're done. But it's always important to remember to use protection.
Don't be a fool, wrap your tool!
