I just installed the KKM a few days ago. I love it (like that was needed.) I have went through a couple tanks of gas since installation and 2+ mpg improvment under normal driving conditions. The first tank went really fast, god damn that lead foot. But now to my question. With the filter element exposed has anyone ever had a problem with the filter getting wet in the rain or wheelin'? The intakes for sports cars have a bypass for just that instenance.

AEM has developed an Air Bypass Valve for its Cold Air Induction Systems. This valve installs on the
intake pipe along the same axis as the throttle body and eliminates any chance of water ingestion should the filter element become wet from rain, hail, sleet, snow, flood or any other scenario where the filter element could encounter or become completely submerged in water.

What is anyone's experiences?

I have had my KKM installed for a long time and I have yet to get mine wet. I've wheeled in creeks were water is going over the hood and haven't had a problem. It took mine almost 9 months to get dirty enough to clean it.

mine hass never gotten wet, and i have had it on for about 5 months. the thought of water getting in there though is always in the back of my head, but it doesnt really worry me. maybe these things could work, lets check em out. ill take a closer look into em.

a friend of mine with a heavily modded probe gt just got a little water through his custom ram air setup - not good. i bet i can get hime to try these things to see how good they work.

Great idea, no need to do it your self when you can have someone else test it.

There was an article in sport compact car a couple of months ago about those bypass valves. They took some guys acura nsx and put that valve on it and dunked his air filter into an aquarium and held it there. The car was fine.

im actually at my friends house right now. he said when he gets his nitrous installed in a few weeks, hes getting one of the AEC bypass valves installed. ill let you guys know how it holds up.
