I was toying with the 94 today. This has got to be related somehow. My engine knocks at idle, spark knocks when driving (especially 2500-3000rpm) and codes show it's lean on both banks. It also showed a bad EGR, but I replaced it. Codes still show weak flow thru the EGR. The performance is way down; if you step on it, it feels like a 2 ton boulder is tied to it.
Give me an idea what to test for. Fuel pump? MAF? O2 Sensors? Cat?
I've replaced the plugs, wires, cleaned contacts, new intake gaskets, ect. HELP!!!!!!!!!

if you have knocking at idle, it means your burning rich!, check for your O2 sensor, and have you cleaned your fuel injectors? also check for the air flow into the system, seems to me that not enough air is getting in there. perhaps something filling most of the gap! dirty air filter could be a problem too. hope this helps

I cleaned the injectors when I had the intake off, and the filter is new. I wonder if the computer is screwed up. Codes show a lean condition, but it's definately a knock. O2's maybe?
Also, how about a bad wristpin? I remember someone mentioning that before. There's no metal in the oil, and my oil pressure is good, so it's not a bearing problem.

sometimes when I accelerate it feels like i'm towing a boulder too, and I checked the codes, it shows me there's something wrong with my O2 sensors, the primary is good, the secondary is messed up, you could be facing the same problem too!

for me i know i have to replace the exhaust system as they are rusted and are turning black from the excess carbon for the past 10 years, a clean outflow will give you a better performance!

run the codes again and see what it gives you for your O2 sensors, do an emissions testing to see if your exhaust is working properly, if you're having problems with these two, that should be it.

I used AutoEXRAY EZ SCAN 6000, and Auto Enginuity OBD-II Diagnostics Scan Tool, I found the Auto Enginuity one to be the best, since it just hooks up straight to your laptop and shows everything live.

Are all your spark plug wires in the correct place and secure?

Almost sounds like you have spark problems on top of everything else.

I checked the wires, I think they're placed right. What's the firing order for the coil pack? I went ahead and replaced the fuel filter. If I can get ahold of a fuel pressure guage, I'll check the pump.

Go to Autozone.com and check out their vehicle specifications link. You'll find the correct firing and wiring pattern there.
