I hit on Ricks post about $30 off a $100 order at Carparts.com...KYB monotube shox are at a great price..and with the $30 off, I can get a complete set of 4 for $100!!!

My questions is, I have been thinking about Bilsteins (I'm not so hot on the Rancho or Eldebrock) and noticed the only real diference is the Bilsteins are pressurized to 360psi, while the KYBs are only 280 psi. However, the price difference is great...the Bilsteins are at least $54.99-59.99 each, making it about $220-250 with shipping.
They both are good I know, but has anyone had experience with the KYBs? Opinions good and bad on both brands (including the KYB Monomax truck shox..are these any good?) would be welcomed...plus, anyone know where to get Bilsteins cheaper?

KYB

I have KYB's in the front of my truck and have since I lifted it. They work good and they have a lifetime warranty. I am acctually going to Rancho 9000's so I can have a little bit more stiffness, but for street and off-road with no adjustments, the KYB have treated me good. Hope this helps.

length?

Did you have just regular KYBs? I'm looking into the new Monomax shocks...I'm sure lots of shox will do the job, I'm just wanting something that can offer good road manners, but plenty of extension and compression for wheelin...Eldebrock sounds good too...I need more input on this...those of you with long travel..what shocks? I dont really want Ranchos either :)

It'd be nice to find compressed and extended length specs for shocks somewhere...

I wanna know what the deal is here with all the guys bashing Rancho shocks w/o ever having them. All i have heard lately is that they are "too harsh" or whatever, and most coming from people running stock crap. And as soon as i suggest them to someone, i am told that i dont know what im talking about even though i have been running them for 6 months now and absolutely love them driving 95% on road daily driver. SO LET ME REPEAT MYSELF!

THESE ARE VERY GOOD ON AND OFF ROAD SHOCKS! THEY ARE NOT HARSH AT ALL AND IF U CANT TAKE IT BUY A CADILLAC!

wha

I'm not "bashing" rancho shocks or anything...we all have out preferences. I dont have anything against rancho, but I prefer a mono-tube shock design (Bilstein, KYB) over the twin tube system (Rancho, Duff, Monroe, Ford OE)

I'll admit I have some bias from seeing some of the shoddy quality kits they made, though it was quite awhile ago..and even now I dont really like their explorer lift tho it gets the job done...so if someone GAVE me rancho stuff, sure I'll put em on, but for my money, I wont pay for something I wont like.even because of something as stupid as the name on the sticker. Thats the great thing about being the customer..you get to choose and you can base your decision on anything..no matter how absurd.

Really, a shock is a shock is a shock..they will all get the job done...but they will ride different for different reasons and you can buy one suited to your particular style of driving. I was just stating what particular shock I was looking at, and asking if anyone had any problems or great praise before I spend my moolah and have to find out myself.

Congrats on finding shocks that work for you...none of us are bashing you or your shocks. We're happy for you and just want to be happy with our shocks too. :)

well I wasnt directly saying u were doing that but lately in general on other posts. I was a little pissed last night cuz my Red Raiders lost to some crappy Eastern Carolina team.
