Ok, so I'm new to the forum. I've got an idea on the drawing board. I know this has been done to death bu I've read every sas write up and it seems like everyone does it differently. Anyways, I've ot a 96 4 door xlt. Its 4.0 2wd. I found a set of 1997 land rover axles. Can I use these? I'm wanting to do leafs up front just to keep it simple. This is my first project. Can someone give me a checklist or some advice. This will still be my dd and I'm still in school. Id really appreciate any guildance.

Can you use them. Yes. You could also use suzuki axles as well. They are not a good choice.

First as far as advise. Do you have $3000 - 5000 to do the swap? Do you have a welder and know how to use it? If the answer is no to the above questions then give up now.

The other advice is sell your truck and buy one already built. It will be cheaper in the long run.

IIRC most Rover rear axles are offset WAY over to the pass side because the T-case rear output is offset.

Come to thing of it, isnt the front axle pass side drop?

Ok, it was just an idea. I can weld, and I'm really good with my hands. Nobodies got anything built down here so I'm going to have to make it. I hate it when people tell me I can't do something so its just more motivation. Im gonna go back to the drawing board and do a lot more homework. Thanks for the advice

Lots of people come here and say they want to do a SAS but have no idea what it takes. Search the project section and find all the second gens and look at what they did. There is no magic answer on the best way to do it.
