What's the biggest item anyones ever managed to cram into an Explorer?

Last night we managed to get a stacked Maytag Neptune front loading washer and dryer into ours. We didn't unstack them and the tailgate and glass were closed.

All we did was fold the seats down and wedge a chunk of wood in behind it so it wouldn't slide into the rear window.

All of my stuff for college, which completely fills it to the brim. This past did it + managed to fit the brush guard i picked up ontop of that stuff.

My fat mother-in-law...nearly burnt out the transmission moving her!

i put a complete Yamaha 150 outboard motor in my 99 on a motor crate,,,

it only weighs about 460 lbs, but it's big in size,, barely fit in,,

Can anyone fit a spare transmission, engine, and tools? Hehe

when blueka bought his 1999 Sport it had 2 complete engines inside it,,
both sohc's,,

Probably a shoping cart lol or a fridge. Not sure which was tighter

I fit a 60 gallon air compressor, still new in the box, in there without incident.
I have also moved an 8-foot tall grandfather clock in it, too.

How did you get the grandfather clock in there? It seems to be just about exactly 6 feet from the back of the front seats to the tailgate

Fold the front passenger seat forward or stick it between the two seats?

corkey it was one of each (sohc and ohv) but the biggest thing I've had in there is a full sized chest freezer....

Pretty much, I ran the passenger seat all the way forward and reclined it all the way back. The clock was angled across the center console from the back. The top of the clock almost touched the dash.

I regularly carry electrical conduit, which come in 10 foot bundles, in my 94. I've also carried gang boxes, tool chests, and a chicago-style conduit bender in there! People at the supply houses always look at me funny when I open the rear glass and slide a full bundle of conduit in there then close the hatch! :)

I got a grandfather clock after my grandmother passed away and I had to move the front seats up a little to get the tailgate to close.

Aside from that, when I moved from Utah to Maryland I had all my stuff, a 40"tv in the box, boxes with clothes and other belongings, a tv stand, and a few other items. I pretty much had a wall of junk behind the front seats all the way to the rear hatch, top to bottom. Don't forget a bike on a rack in the trailer hitch.

Do passengers count? Haha

I left out all except the front 2 seats. I can either fold the passenger seat down to get 9 feet of front to back or take it out with 4 bolts to get 11 feet. It's only a little over 6 feet from the rear to where the center console narrows the gap to 20 inches, but that's enough for a standard (top&bottom door) refrigerator or a 50 gallon water heater.

This Explorer doesn't know it yet, but the days of kids and dogs are over. It's going to change to lumber and appliances, real quick!

The same stacked Maytag washer and dryer as we took it to the dump - don't buy things off Craigslist without proof that they work is all I can say about that, and then a Frigidaire stackable washer and dryer purchased new at the hardware store, not stacked. Definitely a good vehicle for moving washer/dryers :)

With my previous Explorer, the largest load it carried was a 1/4 pallet of landscape stones. Thing weighed about 600 lbs and the truck was squatting a bit in the rear.

With the current one...nothing that extreme. Only 10 bags of topsoil.
