First I am trying to find out what the backspacing and offset is on my '05 Explorer 4.0 with AWD and std 16" wheels.

I have my eye on a set of '05 - '06 Mustang GT wheels for cheap. I just learned that '02-'04 Mustang wheels have a different offset/backspacing than the '05 - '06 Mustang. Which ones are closer to the Explorer wheels in specs? Which model year would I use based on the defferences in specs. The '02-'04 wheels or the '05 - '06 wheels.

TIA

Scott

I am not exactally sure in your case but no one has replied so here is what I experienced. I bought a set of 18's from a guy who had a 95 mustang He had to use wheel spacers to clear the front calipers. I put them on my 92 explorer and they fit fine. Hope this helps some.

I edited the title of this thread - it was extremely long. However, you had 2 other post regarding mustang wheels and your Explorer. I will leave this one up - the rest have been deleted.

Sorry for doubling up the posts but I am seriously trying to get an answer to my question. So far I have heard nothing that I can use. I would think that your sticky thread would have answered my question but it provided no usable information.

TIA

If your talking about my backspacing and offset post - then yes, it would of helped you. Pull one of your wheels off and put a straight edge on the back of the wheel and then from the mounting surface to that straight edge is your backspacing. Then find the center of the wheel and measure where the mounting surface is - that is your offset.
