I want to try out the 4wd on my explorer sometime this week, im still in school and its spring break:). Does anyone know of any trails close to Lawrence kansas, that wont mess up my truck or get it stuck. Its stock except for the tires. I want to see how it does now to see how i want to mod it. thanks

You can get stuck and mess up your truck most anywhere if you try hard enough. This is a popular place to go up that way: http://www.mappyjack.com/Tmaps.htm

Don't go if it's raining. I can't make it this week and some of the folks I know up that way are headed to Disney, OK thursday.

hey thanks. ya, its kinda storming right now but hopefully it will dry out later his week. But i just moved here from tulsa ok, ive never actually done any of the real stuff at disney because i didnt know what was down there, if my truck could handle it. But ive driven all around that grand lake area.

After it stops raining it will dry out pretty fast. But if you are out there while it's raining you can really get in trouble fast. Next day should be fine. A few hours if you have mud tires and some mods.

Hey Matt. If you see Digger say howdy to him for me. Hope he is doing well. Last time i was around the RMFTC I had a full size Bronco and stopped in at camp above St. Elmo when folks were doing Ironchest.

I haven't seen him in a while, maybe because he hasn't moved in a while and that was always when I saw him, LOL... but I see him around the forums every now and then.

talk to a farmer. tonganoxie ks is easy, but you have to have permission. lawrence is harder without a scheduled event.

and DEFINETLY, you need a winch partner and another truck this week!

He dose Chinamans every year. If ya run into him ask about when we danced with the bear at Iron City.

@ happyjack- thanks that place looks pretty cool. I asked a jeep friend if he's been down there before and if he thinks i would be able to do anything there. His response, "no, its extreme. its for real pros." lol, typical jeep guy. he later said i could do a couple of the trails there.

@ maeistero- haven't thought about doin that before, ill have to see about that. One question, i know that i would definetly need to have someone else (with a winch) with me this week. But is there any a time when you can just go by yourself?

You can go by yourself and your truck can do a lot of stuff up there if it's dry and you know where not to go. Thing is I looked at the forcast and it's supposed to be wet till wednesday. And you don't know where not to go. Stay out of mud holes. (see pics) Wish I had my trucks ready, or at least one. I'd drive up and show you around up there. Let me see how the week goes. Maybe thursday or friday.

lol, im pretty sure i wouldn't even think about driving into anythinglike that. But ya it would be nice to have someone show me around, i dont want to end up somewhere i dont want to be. Is there a map of that place that shows the different dificulties? But im hoping i can get up there, but ill have to see if i have enough money for gas.

I hear that. Cost me a c-note to make a fast trip up there and back just for fuel and eats and stuff. My X is still apart. After we get it together it needs to have the AC charged and new alignment cams and an alignment done. My BII has head lights that think they are morse code after about 1/2 hour of being on. Work great for short trips in town but not so good 30 minutes into a 3 hour road trip. And the BII has a few leeks and a something wrong in the front end. Could need aligned again.
