LCD display on radio disappeared

We have just been out in the explorer and all of a sudden the the radio display went blank but did not effect the radio at all. On the way back the display started showing but very dim, any suggestions. many thanks Gary

Hi, Same thing happened with mine - I just replaced the whole unit with another from ebay for about £20.

Yes very easy mate - with the prongs that slot into the front you just pull out the old unit and then slide the new one in - everything is plugged via a multiplug and it takes 5 mins if that.

I've had the same thing with mine a couple of times, but the display came back.
I wiggled the connections in the back to make sure they were tight and that worked.
The last time the display vanished was when the car got realy cold inside when standing on the drive, due to the snow.
When the car warmed up again it slowly came back.
So before you buy another, it may be worth checking out the connections etc..

Mines been working fine now for about 6 months.

Common problem with the 7000 unit. something to do with the power circuit board for the screen and poor solder joints. There is a sticky in the US part of the site and how to fix if you are handy with electronics. Otherwise ebay and you can also use a 6006 or a single cd unit (6000?) instead, just plug and play. If you can get one cheap with no code i can give you the code if you pm me the M123456 serial no.
