Instead of upgrading the leaf spring, try something called " Roadmaster Active Suspension". This is a spring that is attached to the leaf spring. Here is what the add says from the J.C. Whitney sight:

ROADMASTER ACTIVE SUSPENSION
* Minimizes wear on tires, shocks and leaf springs
* 2 variable-rate coils designed to automatically aid rear leaf springs come into operation when needed — the more strain on leaf spring, the more these kits aid suspension

Stops sway and reduces body roll on corners. Lifting force is applied to the side, countering the downward force during body roll. Helps keep truck closer to level in U-turns. Easy bolt-on installation. Note: Do not exceed GVW rating of truck. Cannot be used on vehicles with factory overload springs.

Here is the home link to Roadmaster Active Suspension: http://www.activesuspension.com/

I added the kit to my 1995 Ford Explorer and I am really happy with the results. The rear has about 1" to 1 1/2" extra clearance and the handling is a lot better then stock. I currently am running Edlebrock IAS shocks all the way around with Explorer Express Sway Bars. I need to put my MSW Alaska 16" Wheels/tires on the Explorer to complete the package. With the Edlebrocks, Explorer Express Sway Bars and the Roadmaster Active Suspension, my 1995 Explorer really is tight in the twisties.
I know the guys with the lowered Explorers will tell you theirs handles better. I live in Pittsburgh where "goatpaths" were made into roads. Anything lower will scrape somewhere in the Burgh. I will post a picture when I install the 16" MSW Alaska Wheels.

This is a great add on if your towing something or have extra kids in the back of the "X".

Shop around for a price. I have seen these at J.C. Whitney and even on EBAY. CHeck out the Roadmaster link for more details. I really like it.

how about swapping out for F-250 leaf in the rear of my 91 X? Thought just crossed my mind so I have yet to do any measuring ect lol. Can it be done and if so... how?

Funny, I "W" my second gen springs and but a set of first gen's out of a low mile truck :dunno:
