i am the origional owner a 2014 Explorer that has never had any body work and a few years after purchase i noticed at times the roof leaked. would get a few drops up front but nothing major and sometimes there would be a about a half a cup in one of the cup holders in the third row.

with some recent heavy rains and the car parks at a slight downward pitch the front floor got very wet, i vacuumed it up and dried out the floor mats and assumed it was due to heavy rains and the car parked with the pitch and had not been driven for a few weeks (thanks Covid)

this week again heavy rains and just found the spare tile compartment full of water and most likely has been there for some time, looking for recommendations or suggestions for how and where to repair?

Just fixed mine. I ordered two new motors and installed them to get the roof open. Cleaned all the gutters and drains . Poured water to make sure it drained relatively quickly and closed everything up. No more leaky 😃.

Hi Tom. It could be the moonroof but it could also be 2 different issues. Water in the front or 2nd row footwell usually is a sign of a blocked moonroof drain. Also, water in the spare tire well is usually caused by water running down the 3rd row seatbelts due to a leak from the roof rail.
