Has anyone seen LED kits for taillights to fit the '06 Ex?

Although good with tools, I'm actually more of a plug and play kinda guy. As with ANY aftermarket parts for the 4th gen, they are rare if not non existant. I love my explore but DANG it's tough to find anything available to dress it up other than a bit of mainstream stuff. I guess this can be my saturday morning rant. Well ... off to shovel the snow ...

well i know that some people have gotten plug and play ones off ebay, but with ebay you dont know what your gonna get. some guys have gotten them and they arent even as bright as the stock bulb. seeing what bigapple did to his didnt seem that hard. he made a custom board for his reverse lights. i am also the type of guy who likes plug and play things too. but seeing how bright it was and how cheap it was makes me wanna try it. good luck with trhe snow...we just got a few inches last night and its still snowing right now...

Thanks for the spider light tip but again, no luck. You'd think the aftermarket guys would be pretty quick on the draw to make stuff to fit our rides. Nothing but money for them ...

And then ... I may have spoken a little too soon. I may have found some on the spider lights site, I just need to do some measuring. Has anyone out there tried these yet?

I had 'em in my '99 and now they're in my '07 Sport Trac.

Obviously you liked them, then. Surprisingly they seem to be sold out of Canada. Fine with me, hould make shipping easier.

Aside from headlights and fogs, my entire '07 ST is redone with LEDs interior and exterior.

By the way, if you get LEDs for the front/rear blinkers/tails, you WILL need the resistors.

Hey Andy,
Do you have any pics of your LED upgrades? I need ideas for LED-ing mine.
If possible, I may re-lamp the whole truck.
I take you you did the dome lights too? Do they still fade like the OEM bulbs?

Yep, they still fade.
I don't have any pics right now, but I'll try to remember to take some later tonight when it gets darker. On a side note, I learned yesterday that almost all the switches/indicator lights inside the truck are actually LED from factory, so I guess we all won't have to worry about replacing 798604978653 little tiny bulbs like on the older body styles.

I took these when it wasn't completely dark. I guess that's obvious. Sorry for the bad pic quality in some, but you'll get the basic idea. I just took some quickie pics.

Awesome Andy. Are those spiderlights in your tail lights?

I wonder if the tail lights are the same size in my '06? You had to install some resistors, correct?

Correct. Resistors are needed on the tails and the front blinkers, otherwise they blink really really fast and if you have the message center, it'll keep telling you all your bulbs are out all the time.

Did they ship the resistors with the lights?

Yes, but only 'cause I ordered them with the lights. :) They don't automatically come with them. You have to buy 'em for $10.

Is it just a generic resistor that I can pick up locally or something that should be supplied by spiderlites. I see some guys were picking them up for $50 a piece but it looks to me like they are more like $150 a pair. Odd, seeing as how they ship from Canada,
