LED lights

Sorry about all the questions but up here in the frozen north here ain't a lot of guys to "bump into" on the street that share the same ride that you can swap stories with. And in saying that ... did you get the crossovers or the normal sockets?

It's a generic resistor, but it's HUGE. You'd have a hard time finding them. They charge $20 for the pair. They're 7W 60Ohm.

They'll also get really hot, so attach them to something metal, not plastic. Mine are tied to my frame (like a big heat sink) with exhaust wrap ties.

Won't work. On the new ones, it's all computer controlled.

Andy, did the spiderlites work in your 99 Explorer and if so do you have any pictures? I couldn't find a application on their website saying they will fit. Thanks.

Andy, have you found anyone that sells the LED third brake light yet?

Andy, thanks for the link. I think I will try them!

Just ordered the Spiderlites for my 06 Explorer XLT.

Wohoo!

I am very curious about the spiderlites. Andy seems to be happy with them but I find it hard to pass judgement without seeing them in person. I also wonder about the legality of them (in Canada). The laws around here seem to be up to the discretion of the cop. They finally made everybody remove those neon tubes from under their cars. My concern with the LED tail lights is how bright they are off to the sides. I know they are very bright when you are directly behind the vehicle but as far as peripherally I want to be sure they aren't too dim. No one around here has even heard of spider lites let alone have them, that I know of anyway. And I am a frequent browser of all the local after market shops.

spider lights,,

apparently the spider lights seem to be very bright,
they do look good, , but there is a drawback,, are they bright enuff to be worth 120 $, , , ???? or is it even more to get the resistors too, ??

just wondering,, ?????:can::dunno:

Only you can decide.

Good pics Andy. Are those the white LED's? Corky, where did you see them for $120? I thought that they were $149 on the spider lite web site. And the resistors were another $20 I think.

Then why do they look yellow? Is it just the way they show up in the picture?

It's the camera compensating for the brightness.

Well then I guess that answers my question about how bright they are.:o
