eL-12L-1

That is the one I am using, and I use LED arrays in everything. My LED arrays don't draw much more than your PNP bulbs will, so it should be fine.

I'm about to wire my LED tail lights today. Are you saying I need a different flasher to make them work?

I bought these from a truck stop.

you might need an electronic flasher module. The analog don't work because the LEDs don't draw enough current.

I think those ones have a resistor built in, I can't recall for sure, but I believe so. What type of lights are they?

But, you are probably best off getting an electronic flasher. They are only 6 bucks. Grab one at the same truck shop, most older trucks on the road use the same flasher module as your explorer does.

Not sure the brand. I would have been scratching my head for days wondering why they weren't flashing. So thats why the blinker wont flash when the bulb is burnt out. I always wondered how it knew.
Thanks a lot.

Just throw in an electronic flasher and be done with it. The only draw back with them is you don't know when a light is out. But do you really care? :)

The Electronic ones also work well if your going to tow something as the extra bulbs (from the trailer) don't mess with the flash speed.

The stock flashers use a thermoelectric circuit that opens the circuit when it gets hot, and closes it when it cools back down. Without enough resistance through lights, the flasher won't get hot enough, so the circuit will not open, therefore the flashers will not flash. On many other cars, LEDs or burnt out bulbs will cause hyperflashing, but that is because the circuit is wired differently, and the flasher heats up more.

Either way, same root problem. Electronic flashers are the fix because they use a resister and a timer circuit to control a relay, so they always blink exactly the same regardless of the load. Even if you don't have a problem though, it always makes sense to throw in electronic flashers if you have to replace them, because like Maniak said, they keep your flash consistent when you are towing too.
