really running out of patience, i have replaced my left front hub assembly three times in the past month on my 04 2wd due to bearing whine that gets very loud from 55-65 mph. two of the hubs were from a parts store and this last from the ford dealership and still the same whine with light steering wheel vibration but no shimmy. new michillin lt tires so i just don't know, any suggestions?

If you force the RPM to go to say 3,000 RPM while in Park or Neutral, you dont hear the same whine?

The reason I ask is this might not be wheel related but engine related.. or maybe even transmission related. Are you sure its coming from the left-front corner? Cauz some time noises are misleading cauz the driver sits at the front-left corner.

there's no whine in park or neutral, just when in motion, light whine that increases then starts getting very noticeable at 50 then loud at 65. the whine lightens on a left curve and gets louder on a right curve when weight transfers to the left front. i've sat in all seats at different speeds and the noise still seems to come from the left front. the dealership advised to replace the lf hub assy. which i did myself three times with the same result. pulling out hair!

Could be a few things: the CV-joint seal that I think goes behind the knuckle, a differential bearing, or something else.

Maybe try getting the vehicle up in the air and rotate the tires with your hands while listening for the whine.

yeah, i've just been scratching my head over this, i've had the vehicle up on stands when i did all four brakes and could not get any noise from any wheel, only when the left side is "loaded" under power or de-accelerating, i really do appreciate your replies and ideas!

You can try spraying the wheel bearing / knuckle / CV area with a hose and take it for a quick spin. If the noise goes away, then you know its from that area (of which you know it cant be the bearing cauz you've already replaced it).
