2016 Ford Explorer sport
I have a 2016 Ford Explorer. I left the car running this morning before work. When I got out the car it had an screeching noise. Then when I go inside and come back out the car is smoking. I pop the hood and literally pulled the broken belt out.. can I by pass the compressor until the part comes in. Should I also change other things?

You need to see what the belt drives besides the AC compressor. If it drives the water pump, power steering pump etc you will have to find a belt that will bypass the AC compressor, but still drive the water pump and PS pump. I would imagine you have a single serpentine belt driving everything. That can make it a challenge.

I just had an Air Conditioner clutch go bad on my 2004 Mach 1 a short time ago. The compressor clutch was frozen and it took out the belt at the same time.

While the belt is off spin all of the other pulleys by hand and check for rough bearings, or slop in the bearings.

Welcome to the Forum.
The belt drives the AC compressor, alternator, and water pump. Driving the vehicle is not a good idea unless you can find a belt to run these other 2 components.
