let's see your steering box on gen 2 sas

So I have built a 92 ranger sas a 91 explorer and now came a cross a 98 explorer. Thanks to everyone here I have figured out the t case, and the vss issue.. but one thing I don't really see much depth on, is the steering box.. the threads talk about it and then go wayyy off topic. So I read a gen 1 box will work. I know I have to move relocate the oil filter. But I don't see any clear pictures to get any ideas. I see A lot of broken links. Or I see a few ifs toy boxes which I'm not opposed to just trying to use parts I have. So any ideas or pictures would be much appreciated!!

I used a 1st Gen box on JTX's SAS. Welded a triangular plate with spacers inside the frame then notched out the frame for some bolt sleeves then finally cut out a plate that welds to the outside of the frame for the bolts to go through and tie it all together. The plate was also the landing area for the coil over hoops and panhard bar mount.

That's exactly what I was looking for. That looks really clean! I take it you know someone with a plasma table those brackets looks great!

I used Brian’s kit as well, but I decided to notch the inside of the frame rail to recess the steering box in, and I’m very glad I did. I’m tackling hydro assist now and even with the notch there’s almost not enough room for the fittings and hoses off the box. I don’t have great photos but the frame is probably about 1” narrower there now.
