im in the process of replacing my balance shaft guide and tensioner. my truck has around 11k miles on it and was wondering if anyone knows of these oil pumps failing under 200k miles. I know the logical thing to do is replace it since i went through all the trouble of removing the upper pan, but im not made of money and dont want to spend 100 bucks on a new pump if the one in the truck now is good for another 30k miles or so. thanks in advance

it really depends, i am in a situation now where i need to replace my oil pump on my 96 with 256km on it, but my old 97 with the same 4L was at 681km and was original and worked over pressure at that time. so some are invincible, others die.... not the answer your looking for, but its an answer, if your there anyways, just remember the difficulty, and watch it, if it starts getting close, just get the HP pump, and install it, the HP pump will be better for off roading as well getting more oil to the top. but run with it, high pressure pumps are epic, but expensive
