Does any one have the order part numbers for the clips for the lift gate handle that seem to be always breaking for a 1996 Explorer XLT?

I have it somewhere. I'll try and find it.

Edit: This is what I have for a PN for the yellow clip

BTW, I found that the reason these clips break is due to lack of lubrication on the various hinges, pivot points and latches. This puts too much stress on the clips.

I'm assuming that number is through Ford?
Is it pretty straight forward to replace the clips?

Yes that's the Ford part number. It's fairly straight forward to replace the clip, but it's a PITA to get to it. Most of my vehicles are 2000-2001 and I've never been inside the lift-gate on my '97 (which would be like yours). I assume the '96 uses the same clip as the later models. Ford was very fond of those clips and used them on pretty much every latch on multiple model vehicles and years.

The clip snaps onto a ribbed rod and the other end snaps into the handle. The clip costs a few bucks.

If it helps I can post a pic of the clip.

It would if you have time. Thanks.
