lift gate cyclinder mount

My hatch lift cyclinders are missing. The upper drivers side mount is rusted away. Stud ball is gone..Has anyone else fixed this problem?

no fix...been carrying around a 2x4 for when needed but primarily using just the glass hatch to load and unload

I got an idea:
Does'nt anyone make a ballstud with threads on the end? I could drill a hole and tap the old mount.
