Lift gate opening and closing on its own

I mean I guess it's pretty hard for some people to understand when you ask for an electrical diagnosis to be ran that you might want to book service for the day that that technician makes his rounds. And why would I leave the vehicle with them and give them any business when they're too incompetent to be respectful of the customer's time and schedule appropriately?
Okay, so someone slipped up. So rather than giving them a chance to correct the issue, you chose to not have it possibly repaired and now still have the problem that the members here may or may not be able to help you with. I you are overreacting to the situation.

Never liked those automatic lift gates, just un needed complication, weight, and electrical draw

I don't know if you are referring to the foot-activated liftgate or powered ones in general. I guess they are not to everyone's liking but for me, the foot-activated one was a great feature to have. Made use of it many times and already miss it on my new Aviator. Some members here and on the Lincoln forum have actually been able to add the feature to their vehicles.
As for the concern about weight, from what I've read, you replace the dummy module with a real module (not sure of the weight difference). I doubt very much that there is much of a difference between a manual and a powered liftgate. They all have basically the same items. And the "electrical draw" is negligible when you consider it's not used all the time like, say, your HVAC system.

I had this similar issue on my 2018 Expedition with auto liftgate and after a WEEK of the dealer trying to solve they said they found a faulty wire under the trailer hitch. I didn't get all the details but they told me that it was clear as day as soon as they removed the trailer hitch so I assume it was a bare wire. Hope this helps. It drove me crazy

That's very interesting.
My 2021 has a factory trailer hitch and it also had a broken wire on the liftgate electronics. The dealership found the issue within a few hours. Perhaps they have had experience with this before.
