what would be the ideal way to lift a 2WD 97 X? i had a post on here earlier saying i could buy a lift kit for a ford ranger of the same year...then go buy 140 mm bolts. i was also told i could do a torsion twist and a add-a-leaf kit to get around a 5 inch total lift. All of that would cost around 250 or so. im new to lifting cars and such, so much help is needed. what would be a good lift kit to buy? and how much could i expect to pay for all of the accessories to be put on? thanks

i want to run 33 inch mud terrains or all terrain tires

I dont have much experience with your model... but i have read countless threads on lifts...

My best suggestion would be a 3" spindle lift up front and AAL's + War153 shackles in the rear.

That MIGHT be enough to fit 33's. If not.. (research this because im not positive) but do the spindle lift and a TT up front, and in the back to DOUBLE AAL;s ( i have those :D ) with the war153 shackles.

Do some searches...theres a good thread about what size tires you can fit with different lifts. but remember every X is different and might vary a little in trimming

On a 97 2wd for 33"s:

TT, spindles up front and SOA in rear.
or
TT and shackles and 3" body lift.

I also fit 33x12.50s with 3" TT in front, fiberglass fenders in front, and 4.5" lift leaf springs in the rear. I definately recommend custom leaf springs or SOA over double aal and shackles; and all suspension over suspension + body.

thanks. where can i buy the shackles and spindles. and what is a decent brand for the spindles?
