I have looked and looked for a body lift kit and most places say they will not install one on my 1996 explorer unless it is made specificly for my truck. They said most trucks have 10 to 12 body mounts and the explorer has eight (please forgive me if this is wrong. This is what I was told). It you do come across one I am looking and would like to purchase. Unless someone has better suggestions. E-mail me with suggestions - hardwayc30@netzero.com

Explorer has 10, and you could use the 90-94 kit. Other than that ther isn't much for bodylifts for your model yr. You'll have to modify one.

Actually I take that back....you can use a Ranger kit that will work for your '96 here is the link.

Dead Link Removed
PER853-3 95-97 Ranger $137.95

Ranger kits come with all the same brackets but with 14 blocks instead of 10 and the bumper brackets might need some modifications. You may get the right steering adapter too.

A few of us here have done the 2" body lift on post-95's. It's some thing you can do yourself if you have the right tools and are not afraid of hacking on the radiator shroud and bumpers. I did mine for under $130 ($70 for the kit, $30 for the manual transmission extender, and $30 or so for bolts, etc...) Do a search by profile name for myself or Brian Ward to find more on this, or drop me a line.

Bodylift

I suggest you use the 95-97 kit. I will be installing this kit in a few weeks on a '96 and would be happy to let you know how it goes. Email me for more info.

body lift

Thank you for the information. I would like to hear some more on your 1996 lift and what extra step you took after installing the kits.

Has any one noticed a big difference in the ride or body roll? Any safety issues?

Does anyone know a place in Florida that would be willing to install the kit and make the mods?

Well, I just did a 97 this past weekend and it's the same as the 98 except for some different placement of wireing and modules. When you do this sort of thing you have to check and double check for any wires or modules that need to be disconnected before lifting.

I know of a place in Fl thatll do it for you. Atleast they said theyd do it on my 91. I dont know where your located but there is a place in Auberndale, just off I-4 near Lakeland that does lifts, mainly J**ps ,but the guy really knows his stuff. I cant think of the name off-hand,something like Performance Auto or something Generic like that.If you can, get your hands on a yellow pages from out there,or you can do a yellow pages search on the internet .There located on 92 if that helps. Sorry I couldnt get you anymore info than that.Ill be out that way tommorow,Ill try to get the phone number if your interested.

Where in Florida?

I don't know where you are in Florida, but if you are in the Jacksonville area go to www.4x4sandmore.com they said they would put a body lift on my '97
