Hey guys. I have a 00 mountaineer 4x4 I have put 3in torsion keys and shackles. Should I use bigger shocks? If so any suggestions

Remove the shocks and check to see if the shock is limiting your down travel.

I’m new to this what do you mean by down travel ?
I have shock extensions on top. When I lifted I had to put them on in order for shock to go through mount. I have 3in torsion keys and 3in shackles.

Down travel is how far the suspension droops with no load on it.

You could ditch the extenders and get shocks that add the same length as the extenders do. So if they are 3" extenders, get shocks that are 3" longer than stock.

Also do I need longer sway bar links I feel as mine are to short making sway bar tilt downwards

when checking down travel should tires be on or off ground when checking for droop

Check this thread:

He claims that longer shocks are not needed. I don't understand why you wouldn't need them if you had to use shock extenders though. It's a long thread, and the info may very well be in there.

Unfortunately a lot of the photos have been lost from that thread.
